Iran Attacks U.S. Base in Saudi Arabia, 12 Troops Hurt

Iran attacks a combined missile and drone attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on Friday. The strike wounded 12 US. troops, two of them seriously, and damaged at least two KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft, including one that caught fire.

Specifically, Iranian forces fired at least one ballistic missile and several drones at the base. The injured personnel were inside a structure when the strike hit directly.

Furthermore, officials described the breach as “one of the most serious” penetrations of American air defenses since the monthlong war began. Notably, multiple refueling aircraft and an E-3 Sentry AWACS command-and-control plane also suffered damage in the assault.

Additionally, the 12 new casualties push the total past 300 US. military wounded since Operation Epic Fury began on February 28. Of those, approximately 273 had already returned to duty. Around 225 suffered traumatic brain injuries, and approximately 35 remain unable to return to duty.

Meanwhile, US. Central Command did not publicly comment on the attack and did not immediately respond to media requests.

Consequently, oil prices climbed above $105-110 per barrel following the developments, while U.S. stocks declined after President Donald Trump paused strikes on Iran’s energy sector.

Moreover, the war has spread across the Middle East, killing thousands and causing the biggest disruption ever to global energy supplies, fueling inflation fears worldwide.

Finally, on Saturday, Israel’s military intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, marking the first time during the Iran war that Israel faced fire from that country.
