Dan Bilzerian, a social media influencer, has now stepped into politics. On Tuesday, he submitted forms to contest Rep. Randy Fine, a Republican, who runs in Florida’s 6th district. He also listed himself as a Republican on a Federal Election Commission form for a House district that covers both Palm Coast and Daytona Beach.
At 45, Bilzerian runs a huge online presence. He became famous by sharing his extravagant life, full of guns, women, and trips. He has almost 30 million Instagram followers, so people call him the “King of Instagram.” But the moment he entered politics, controversy erupted fast.
A Candidacy Wrapped in Controversy
On March 25, Bilzerian said on X that he would challenge Rep. Fine for Congress, posting, “I’m going to run against fat f,k @RepFine for Congress.” The post sparked instant backlash right away. Bilzerian has a documented record of posting antisemitic remarks online. Specifically, he posted on X the same day he filed his paperwork: “We get it, you’re a Jew, and you support America’s destruction to help your parasitic nation.” He then added, “He has no place in our government, and when I unseat him, I’m going to draft laws to have anyone putting Israel before America tried for treason.”
On Wednesday, Bilzerian stunned TMZ during a live interview, using a racial slur while talking about his congressional opponent. He also said before that “Jewish supremacy” is the biggest danger to America and the rest of the world right now, claiming it in a 2024 interview with Piers Morgan.
Fine’s Camp Fires Back
In the meantime, Rep. Randy Fine’s campaign team refused to stay quiet. A campaign spokesperson stressed that President Trump has stayed with the same representative, saying that Congressman Randy Fine is the only person Trump has endorsed three times in the last two years, including during Fine’s current bid for reelection. The spokesperson also called Fine one of Trump’s “greatest allies.” Fine is serving his first term in Congress after winning a special election to take over Mike Waltz’s seat in the House.
When Bilzerian announced his campaign in late March, Fine told reporter Pablo Manríquez he hadn’t even heard of the influencer, saying, “I don’t know anything about him.”
Residency and Uphill Battle
Behind the talk, Bilzerian still has tough legal and real-world hurdles. The Florida Department of State says that, based on his FEC filings, his address is in Las Vegas, Nevada, and that US. representatives must live in the state they’re elected from. So, we still don’t know if he qualifies.
Politics don’t favor him much. Florida votes on August 18, and Bilzerian has a tough road ahead, since the district usually votes red and his harsh criticism of President Trump won’t help him. In 2024, Trump beat Fine in his district by 30 points.
Trump Criticism Deepens the Divide
Just as importantly, Bilzerian didn’t confine his attacks to Fine. He also criticized President Trump for how he handled the war in Iran, posting on X that Trump is “an extreme narcissist” and will “nuke Iran” because his ego can’t stand losing. Then he urged people to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. So, even in his own claimed party, Bilzerian stands out as an odd one.
On April 7, Bilzerian submitted FEC Form 1958444 to the Federal Election Commission, officially starting his campaign account. Still, his campaign website, BilzerianForCongress.com, went offline not long after it launched on Wednesday. His campaign team didn’t reply to several requests from the press for comment.
Now, Florida’s 6th District race is getting national attention, not just because Bilzerian is famous, but because it highlights the deep ideological splits inside the Republican Party as the 2026 midterms approach.
