Trump Threatens Iran: Open Hormuz Strait or Face Bombing

Trump Threatens Iran on Sunday. Specifically, he warned Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday or face devastating military strikes.

Trump posted on Truth Social: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran”. Furthermore, he added: “Open the Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell JUST WATCH!” He closed the post with “Praise be to Allah.”

Subsequently, Trump clarified in a follow-up post that his deadline stood at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday. Additionally, he told the Wall Street Journal the US. will destroy “every power plant” and bridge in Iran if the deadline passes.

The crisis began on February 28, 2026, after the United States and Israel launched joint military strikes on Iran, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Consequently, Iran effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a trade route through which 20% of the world’s oil passes.

Meanwhile, indirect negotiations through Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey have produced no significant progress so far. Nevertheless, Trump told Fox News Sunday that there remained a “good chance” of a deal by Monday.

Iran’s mission to the United Nations called Trump’s threats “direct and public incitement to terrorize civilians” and “clear evidence of intent to commit war crimes.” Moreover, Iranian General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi warned that “the doors of hell will be opened” if Iran’s infrastructure faces attack.

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve warned that the ongoing war risks fueling inflation, further complicating prospects for interest rate cuts in 2026. As a result, global energy markets remain under severe pressure, with no resolution in sight yet.
